Courtyard Renovation – Phase II - Stations of the Cross Art Project
We hope all is well as you move from summer into Fall which holds the promise of cooler weather, sweaters, pumpkin spiced lattes (if that is your guilty pleasure) and more time outdoors!
Speaking of outdoors, we are thrilled to announce that the next phase of the courtyard renovation is about to get underway! Hopefully you have been able to enjoy the results of phase I and as the temperature drops, you will be able to spend more time in this beautiful area.
Phase II will result in fourteen different renderings of an event in the life of Jesus Christ we know as his Passion. This is our common devotion to Christ’s journey from His trial to His death also known as “The Stations of the Cross.” Each of the Stations will be placed on separate columns facing the interior of the courtyard. The project will allow this journey to come to lifein our very own courtyard.
A steering committee led by a member of the Pastoral Council will shepherd this project forward. The first step will be the solicitation of interest from young artists between the ages of 14 – 20, which will include outreach to the local Catholic high schools. The next step will be to host an Information Session in October for all interested artists. The steering committee, which will include an expert in Catholic art, will focus on making a selection within a 30 day window after the submission deadline. We are excited to begin this project and will keep you posted on the progress every step of the way.
Although the heat of summer may have prevented you from spending much time in the enhanced beauty of the courtyard, perhaps the cooler weather will present an opportunity for you to linger a bit the next time you are visiting the church. As you do, take a minute to close your eyes and perhaps envision the glorious results of this next phase.
We look forward to keeping you updated in the coming months about this project, exciting outreach opportunities and other important happenings in the Parish. Also, if you know a young artist that may be interested in exploring this opportunity, please let us know and we will make sure to provide them more detailed information.
As always, we are here to serve, so please reach out with any comments or suggestions at
